About Us

Village Family is a nonprofit corporation organized to rejuvenate& strengthen Norfolk underprivileged residents. We feed, clothe & educate. Our mission is to make sure that no one goes to bed hungry.

How We Got Started

Village Family is a multifaceted organization that was founded in 2014 by Natisha Wilson to provide outreach resources to those experiencing financial hardship & food insecurites. Village Family is a valuable community resource that feeds, clothes & educates.
Hunger relief is a main thrust for Village Family. We host a monthly food giveaway at First Calvary Baptist Church, 813 Henry Street in Norfolk. One of our concerns is that when people come to us, we want to have the resources available, but we also want them to leave better than they were.

There is no greater feeling than knowing that you are helping improve the quality of life for another person in need. Everyone know what its like to have an unmet need so it is our duty as good citizens to do what we can. We are small but we have big hearts to give.  We can do so much more together.

So it really makes it hard for the ones who really want to get those experiencing food and financial insecurities the help they really need when faced with so much rejection.

(more) As a business owner of a nonprofit organization one of the biggest challenges is getting people to understand that small need financial support, volunteers and quality donations to continue outreach programs. Hunger relief is a main thrust for Village Family. The demand continues to outweigh the resources. Village Family is seeking to assist everyone who comes for assistance, as well as expand and enhance services. Village Family also provides an outreach referral service to encourage businesses and organizations to unify to build the community bond. "If we can come together, so much more can be accomplished." "We are small with big hearts to give". Those who come for the food include homeless citizens, single parents, senior citizens, and those who are just experiencing financial hardship. We desire quality items similar to the items that we provide to our own families. "One of our concerns is that when people come to us, we want to have the resources available, but we also want them to leave better than they were."
