(more) You are a hypnotist, Brian? You can still use the advice given for bands...make sure there are live recorded examples of how entertaining you are!  Marketing and advertising work best when you use multiple, integrated strategies.  In addition to the solicitations you are sending out, consider 1) what motivates your audience - what pains or desires do they have that you solve 2) how will you be changing clients lives for the better 3) who else is marketing to the same people you are, and 4) what else are the people you are marketing to interested in Armed with that info, 1) craft several Themified Value Introductions for your business and get some face-time in your market while you practice relaying your value at networking events.  Unlike a postcard, which is great for a special offer or visibility, face-to-face builds trust and a network of people who will remember and refer you when there is a need.   2) Check that your website, email and ads are all about your best potential clients, not you!  "You want to have the type of event people talk about for years - or decades!  People who have hired Brian Hook Enterprises get that kind of wow factor...check out this video and testimonials."  How many "I's" and We's can you change in your copy and content to You's and They's? People pay more attention when something is about them. 3) Reach out to businesses (in your chamber and association) who share your best client prospects and develop an offer together with them.  Maybe they want to get a product into college dorms and would love the exposure of offering a freebie when you are booked, or you could take $ off of a booking for anyone who orders a minimum quantity of their product or service.  Cross-promote!  http://linksharegrow.com/link-10-ways/ 4) Build your social media presence - connect with people you've met at networking events you attend (a lot of them) and share things of value to them (industry tips, tools, ideas, fun stories, funny sayings they can share, more about hypnotism they never new, etc) so they remember you and refer you when they hear someone talking about a party or event entertainment needs. Integrate your marketing efforts - focus attention on social media and live networking as well as marketing (being visible and valuable) and direct advertising.   https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/20140825153107-2453416-the-3v-s-of-marketing-visibility-value-and-virtue/

(more) Sounds like a valuable service to provide! I agree with those who said the first step is research and identification of pain in the market and clarifying your UNIQUE solution to it. Here's a simple one-page plan to guide you in defining your value.  http://linksharegrow.com/Assets/Template-MarketOne-Sheet.pdf Who has most of that pain and what would be more valuable in alleviating it than what they have to give up to get the relief? It's called themifying your value, and you can find tips and samples here: hopspeednetworking.com/themify.html Once you clarify your themified value, phone calls are the best way to determine that and discover warm leads while you're at it. "I'm reaching out to learn more about driving traffic to a tradeshow booth. Can you tell me what your experience has been and what has or hasn't worked well?" Or, if you have already worked with tradeshow clients with success, "If you're like my clients, you probably spend time before tradeshows to look for fresh ideas on attracting traffic to your booth. Since attendees love to have something valuable to take home, would you benefit if that was a caricature of them that includes your booth and logo?" Networking is the next best way to discover and nurture warm leads to grow your business. Find speed networking events, and get great at several different themified value introductions to relay there and at other networking events - I would suggest joining and engaging with chambers of commerce & industry organizations as you are likely to meet businesses there who exhibit, and many of the organizations themselves hold tradeshows. You might also discover others who are in touch with your ideal client and partner with them in your marketing efforts. And use social media - provide valuable tips and tools for exhibitors that have nothing to do with you, and make sure your social media platforms - twitter, facebook, linkedin, instagram, alignable - all have your brand, themified intro, and an easy way to work with you. Scope out other caricature artists websites and social media and see what they are doing.  Reach out and share ideas!. Here are a couple more resources that might help you develop a sales and marketing plan to make your market aware of what you do and the value to them: http://linksharegrow.com/Assets/MarketingPlanIntakeForm.pdf http://linksharegrow.com/Assets/SocialMediaPlanningForm.pdf

Give first - share people, tips, tools and opportunities you discover while networking or browsing that might be valuable to your ideal clients|customers.   You need a website to add trust, visibility, and a way for your market to take action, but you just might find a better way than your website to grow your sales as you meet people face-to-face. People you meet can give you insights into where THEY want to see you and how THEY want to do business with you! #themify #linksharegrow
