I agree with Denishia. There are 1900 other Realtors in one of my markets and upwards of 4000 in the other. I can't obsess about who they are and what they are doing. I have to be myself and attract people to my ethics and way of doing business.

As a Realtor, I work when the customer calls - that typically involves weekends. But I allow myself time off during the week when it's needed.

SW Florida is booming! I've had a couple people ask about larger homes, but more are concerned with open space and recreational areas around their home.

What are your main questions when purchasing a home to live in? I wonder how many people are concerned with schools, access to shopping and dining, or if our newcomers are fancy-free retirees!

People live into their 80's and 90's today - so buying is a viable option for someone in their 60's. However, income is not the only question that should be asked. Assets and portfolio also are important, as is the cost of rentals in the area. What is the person's credit score? Have they had a recent bankruptcy? Are they eligible for first time homebuyer or Veterans Administration assistance? Also to be considered is whether they have a spouse or family, and the general state of their health. Some people have all their money sitting in liquid assets and have no tax deductions. They want to be independent and homeownership could make sense for them, because in this market, they are earning very little on their cash. Others like to travel, and have few possessions, no children or pets. For them, owning probably does not make sense unless they can rent the property while they are away.

There are a couple factors that determine which WDO inspector I choose. First, one of the best in the area is FREE to the buyer. That is great when they feel "nickel and dimed" to begin with. Second, one of the national chains seems to always find "rodent droppings" in the attic. I don't think...

There are a couple factors that determine which WDO inspector I choose. First, one of the best in the area is FREE to the buyer. That is great when they feel "nickel and dimed" to begin with. Second, one of the national chains seems to always find "rodent droppings" in the attic. I don't think there are THAT MANY homes with rodents. Third, I like an inspector who will come when scheduled, do what they are asked to do, and explain their answers to my customer. The other issue that I find is in this area there are more and more "contractors" starting out, and as much as I like to help the new ones, having been new myself at one point, I want someone I can rely on.
I've had several businesses over the years, and yes, it is a good idea to have more than one stream of income. We never know what the economy will be, and it's good to have options, because one thing is for sure -- you'll need the cash.

IMO the teachers are being asked to do so much non-educationally related that it takes the joy out of teaching - testing, drilling facts, having to use "evidence-based" practices instead of allowing students time to explore and experiment, practicing lock downs as though protecting from gunmen, and now being armed themselves? Couple that with relatively low pay and long hours, and the students' human needs that are not being met elsewhere...it can be overwhelming. Budgets are tight, but the students are still needy. Teachers who care end up spending their own money on classroom supplies of not only teaching materials but food and drinks for the students who come hungry or whose parents are stressed and don't take as good care as they might. So many teachers leave the profession in the first couple years, and so many others move to administration as soon as they can...who's left to nurture and inspire?
The student would need others of the same age and interests nearby to spend time with. If the program had others at the same school or arranged outings for the students, that would be great. At this point, we don't have kids at home anymore, so we probably wouldn't be good candidates to host a...
