I believe folks that any time is a great time to network/connect with others. From the time you start working out at the gym on the treadmill to purchasing something in a store to meeting anyone - if you show genuine interest in others and just say hello its amazing how the doors will open for you. Never stop networking and showing a smile and most importantly show others that you care. Business will always be there but people will not and they will remember you on how you listened, smiled and acknowledged them = them wanting to know about you and your business.

This is so true. A smile goes a long way. I have met so many people that are so caught up in their lives that they forget to smile or even say thank you.

I need to put this into practice more. It seems we are living in a world where we are told not to talk to strangers, yet I was raised in a world that strangers were friends we haven't met yet.

I have to agree here. My opinion above was related to a "necessary" meeting. I am by nature friendly and talkative. A smile, encouraging comment or compliment go a long way in anyone's life.
