About Us

The Mission of One to One Learning is to provide English classes and other supportive services to immigrants to empower them to reach their full potential and to lead meaningful lives in the communities in which they live and work. In 2017 we celebrated our 20th Anniversary.
The process of teaching English is in small group learning circles--presently we have 30 groups. Our present registration of 270 students are taught in these groups ranging from pre literate, no English, beginner, intermediate, advanced, and literacy. We have a Children's group while paents are in class. We have computer, yoga, nutrition, health, parenting, financial literacy, knitting, and sewing mini courses.
Because of the small groups, another goal has been to build bridges of understanding among students and teachers. Our teachers are the heart and soul of the organization. As volunteers they provide a professional and interested staff focused on the education of their students. We are constantly in need of new teachers as we have on-going registration with an influx of beginner students.
We need to generate funds for the organization. Our funds generally come from individual and institutional donations, and grants. We have a major fund raising event in May of each year, called Hands of Hope Gala, honoring those who have supported us. We have another event in September, Star-Fest in 2017 its 8th year. Our alumni and students have fund raising events, two soccer tournaments and a dinner each year. We are a community of caring and support. Our alumni are always looking at ways to "pay it forward"
