My sidecar style baby beds are designed to let Mom have the baby's mattress on the same level as hers. The baby's mattress presses against Mom's with no gaps. This allows mother and infant to sleep face-to-face and the baby can feel Mom breathing nearby. Nighttime nursing involves a gentle slide onto Mom's mattress and then back again when the baby returns to sleeping.
