Jennifer Elle Roberts, MD APC
I am a board certified psychiatrist specializing in treating young adults, adolescents, mothers, and those who suffer with depression, anxiety, in relationships, and working through trauma. I embrace a holistic approach, and believe that every patient benefits from psychotherapy and mindfulness, in addition to pharmaceutical treatment. I love to help my patients in creative ways, including walking sessions, yoga practice, guided meditations, and using written exercises and art when appropriate.
I grew up in the SF Bay Area, California and graduated college from UC Santa Cruz. I began my research career in 2002 at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, and earned my medical degree in 2010 at the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. I completed my psychiatry residency training at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, where in addition to working with diverse populations and gaining expertise in psychopharmacology, I excelled in psychotherapy, including expert training in dialectical behavioral therapy at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. I also completed training in Child and Adolescent psychiatry at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and in using evidence-based complementary medicine with the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. I have presented research internationally, and enjoyed teaching medical students and residents as faculty at USC Keck School of Medicine. In addition to building my private practice, I have worked as acting Medical Director of Clearview Women's Center, a residential DBT program in Los Angeles, California, and Newport Academy, a dual diagnosis residential treatment program for adolescents in Northern California.
Along with extensive expertise and a high level of commitment, what sets me apart from my colleagues is my warm relaxed demeanor, which contributes to the wellbeing of my patients. I prefer to work collaboratively, and see each person as the unique individual that they are, with special gifts and struggles that require personalized care plans. I want you to enjoy your visits and your treatment.
It took a lot of training...
