Facebook 'Groups' for my audience but Alignable is closing fast on being one of my favorite connection tools.  For business needs, LinkedIn has always trumped for leads.  I really think it depends on your audience and what you offer in the way of service or products where you should be focused... First, I would not discount the power of social media - but I do understand there is some aversion to it either in time needed to do it right, lack of knowledge or concern about privacy. That being said - word of mouth is your most powerful tool but also time consuming at the beginning. Look... (more) First, I would not discount the power of social media - but I do understand there is some aversion to it either in time needed to do it right, lack of knowledge or concern about privacy. That being said - word of mouth is your most powerful tool but also time consuming at the beginning. Look to see if there is a local professional networking group (before joining - talk to the members as there are some that are not beneficial). If you are doing a fabulous job do not hesitate to ask your current clients for referrals - just a few contacts you can reach out to that they feel would benefit from your services. See if they would contact them for you first so it is a warm 1st connection versus a cold one. You can even offer a referral gift in the form of a discount or gift card. Best referral gift would be a free service they can give to a friend - that way you might also get a new client! Hope this helps!

Chapstick is also a highly valued item to give that gets longevity from the receiver.
