Trees have always had a special place in my heart, starting with the tree outside my window when I was a child. While walking, mostly in the beautiful woods of Duchess & Putnam Counties, NY, I pick up interesting fallen pieces of wood and other discoveries that capture my interest. As I play with them, they conspire to form sculptures through my hands.
In my earlier years I performed, taught dance and worked as a dance therapist in New York City. Upon retiring, I moved up to Putnam County and expanded my love of movement to creating found wood sculptures. With my dog, Matti, I hike the lush forest trails of Putnam and Dutchess Counties, where I find myself surrounded by some of the most beautiful shapes, colors and textures. I began collecting interesting pieces of wood, seed pods, lichen, nuts and the like, without a clear idea of what I'd do with them. Eventually they have inspired me to recapture this beauty as I combine the small, naturally fallen samplings into one-of-a-kind sculptural displays and bring a small piece of that beauty indoors to help warm the home. I hope you enjoy my work.
