About Us

Ideal Transportation Co., Inc. has its terminal located in Peabody Massachusetts and has been an intermodal trucking company since 1975. Ideal services the ports of Boston, New York/New Jersey & Portland Maine to all points in New England for both import and export shipments. Ideal is also US Customs Bonded Carrier which allows Ideal to move freight which has not cleared US Customs. Permitted to haul alcoholic beverage and hazmat certified.

How We Got Started

The company was established in 1975. At that time the trucking industry was regulated by the ICC. Thomas DiGiulio had operated with one truck from 1948 to 1975 and asked his daughter in law Nadine if she was interested in operating the business. She accepted and started a new corporation in 1975 and during that period to the present day gave competitive pricing and good service establishing an excellent reputation with her customers and the company now operates 20 units. Nadine had the opportunity to expand but she chose to stay at a level where she could continue to have hands on and be sure her customers were satisfied with her trucking services.

I like Mack Tractors.  They have had some bad years but for the most part they are the best economically for what I do. (more) I like Mack Tractors.  They have had some bad years but for the most part they are the best economically for what I do.

Yes.  In addition to service most customers look for lower rates.  Unfortunately some customers are willing to sacrifice customer service over pricing. In our industry if we fail to deliver in a timely manner then it could affect their business because they cannot produce the product to the customer. When your customer presses for price over a superior product or service you then have to prove to him that the service or product you provide will not only keep his customers happy but may help in acquiring new customers. A customer of our’s one time received a sales call from a competitor. We at the time had been servicing the customer for more than 20 years. The competition came in at $75.00 less. I supplied him with a large number of our competitors and to check pricing. He observed the rate supplied him by that vendor was not in line with others in the industry. He realize that service would suffer because of price which would adversely affect his business. Ask those with bad feet had the had known what cheap shoes would have done not only to their feet but knees, hips and back in later years. Less is not always better. Good luck

Service is still the number one reason for the use of a motor carrier. If the carrier does not supply the shipper with good service it reflects on their ability to meet the customer's needs.
