How We Got Started

Originally getting my start as a 12 year old with a Brownie Junior Box camera going to Summer Camp, with one roll of Black & White film, leading to apprenticing with a established Professional Photographer, with Hugo Redivo inviting me to join the Professional Photographer's Association, I was able to start my career in Photography, including working in a Darkroom for B&W film and print processing, eventually Colour processing prints years later. Now graduating to the Digital world and all the opportunities my career has blossomed as a result.

Webcasting is new to me as far as it's potential to reach a vast audience or targeting a specialized industry, however every organization usually has a PR person who may be willing to talk to you on how best a Webcast live would suit their industry. Best of luck on making some contacts, perhaps I may be of help from my experience. Have you been doing Webcasting privately or commercially lately? In what area would you say is your expertise on developing the end product to a client? ~Chris

Even though we only moved 1/2 a block away from our former location, people will think maybe you closed, moved away, or retired in this retirement community! The later is the most reasoning that the former customers may say! You have to keep a visible profile and keep everyone from previous clients and new alike to follow you! Get some exposure!!

Great Positive attitude Abel and Sofi, what you propose should bring the GM or HR managers to act on your behalf to stop the bullying in the workplace! Their policies of discrimination should discipline the perpetrators actions spreading immature rumours! I am setting up lights and camera lenses and explaining to the client that this will not hurt, we don't pull any teeth, I was attempting to put them at ease, with a little humour! Their response was, "don't you capture ones soul with that equipment"? OK, I hesitated, maybe just a glimpse at it... Their response was, "don't you capture ones soul with that equipment"? OK, I hesitated, maybe just a glimpse at it for about 1/500th of a second, which brought on some laughter for both of us. The rest of the photo shoot (Soul Catching) went off perfectly without a hitch!:-D

(more) As in most communities, the small businesses with a single proprietor, or Mom & Pop family businesses are disappearing with the Big Box stores taking the Lion's Share of all small enterprises' markets. We have endured the hardships of the economy fluctuations, seeing their fellow businesses, starting to disappear. Please remember those businesses that have been around a long time have owners with vast expertise in their field, you will not get the quality of service and knowledge of product and experience going Big Box! I personally miss Mr. Camera, a small operation where the proprietor could answer questions on any facet of the history of Photographic tools, chemistry, equipment, know how in developing images and film. Even the digital era needs expertise that is lacking in Department store staff earning under $12. per hour. The techie may know how all the buttons operate and how to execute an exposure actuation, but did they impart any wisdom on lighting, when to take the exposure to get desired effects, very few do today. Be sure and support your LOCAL businesses in your community, as they also support your lively hood too. I knew a Doctor, a prominent Oncologist that moved to Wichita, Kansas after I had done his Portrait. Talking on the phone I asked what were some of the unique businesses he had seen there. None, he said "it is a Walmart town". Nuff said!

Other is a big factor, as we must be ready for the unknown factors that dictate our quality of life, as many of you know owning your own business can turn on you. This way we know a competent competitor will be able to serve the client, which can be reciprocated when they are overbooked, or are not available. No one can serve all the potential clients out there all the time, so sometimes the best way to serve our clients is to find an alternate choice to fit their needs. Those competitors that have a long history of doing business competently, are ones we can trust with our clients and will appreciate the bonus work you send their way. There is always a lot more business out there, so never try to monopolize everything yourself, or take on more than you can handle, as having too much on your plate presents more problems than not enough! Be happy to know there will be another client coming your way shortly, no need to be greedy!:-)
