About Us

I, with my writing partner, are writing a series of books about Arabian horses and the young people who love them. Our books are rated for Young Adults but are being read by older people who enjoy a nice story about a horse and it's relationship with a teenager.

Hard question!! I get to know my protagonists well as I write each book and end up feeling like I know them personally. I wouldn't mind a face-to-face meeting with any one of them, including the horses! (more) Hard question!! I write fiction, but a lot of what I put in print comes from my personal experiences and those of others I talk to.  (more) I write fiction, but a lot of what I put in print comes from my personal experiences and those of others I talk to.

Target your market with your posts. Are you trying to reach young people, or are you trying to reach their parents? Often parents buy books for their kids. Get yourself interviewed on podcasts for authors (The AuthorStore.com)  Don't make a pain of yourself. Posts that just say "buy my book! Buy my book! are annoying. You can present a case where a bad decision was made and how that turned out, then mention your book as a teaching aid for making better ones, etc. Use photos! You can write and post articles on Linked in. Expand your connections everywhere you can. Be prepared to spend MUCH more time on marketing your book than you spent writing it.

Actually, I'm writing uplifting stories right now. I began a series of them a few weeks ago and will continue with them and the next book in our series, which is also an uplifting story. (more) I'm a woman so I tend to think of commonplace actions to be such things as doing the dishes and doing laundry. I can't find much inspiring about those tasks. However, in a story, if Suzy goes to visit her aging grandmother and discovers the home in disarray with piles of laundry and a kitchen full of dirty dishes, she asks grandmother about it. Grandmother tells Suzy she's been ill and couldn't get it done but didn't want to be a burden to her family.  Suzy knows her mother is coming to visit grandmother in two days. Suzy changes her schedule, makes grandmother some hot tea, and gets down to washing clothes and cleaning up the kitchen so grandmother won't be embarrassed when her daughter gets there. She spends the time talking with her grandmother as she works so grandmother is more comfortable about what Suzy is doing. That makes doing the dishes and the laundry inspiring. It's the reason for doing it and how she does it and the love she is showing for her grandmother, not the act that inspires.
