Yes, that's Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), through your state's Unemployment Office. Here in Indiana, you have to file a regular unemployment claim first, which will be denied. This gets you into the system with a case number.
Online notice from Indiana is that they're "working diligently" on implementing PUA so you can fill out a claim for that. They also say they're "waiting on specific instruction" from the Feds.
I've read that Maryland is already rolling with PUA. Perhaps I have an attitude problem about bureaucracies, but seeing both those explanations in one paragraph made me think C.Y.A. was the only diligent action. I must say, the initial claim denial was turned around in a few days, so one just has to scan their state's unemployment site daily to see when that "diligent work" and "federal instruction waiting" engenders an active PUA.
