About Us
We offer a unique mix of training and services for people and their dogs. Private lessons in dog Obedience, behavior problems, more advanced skills, Service dog training, Therapy dog training and puppy lessons. Our other services include Antique Car rentals for Film, weddings, wine tours Etc. We also teach driving horses with our experienced horses. Plus well teach you and your horse to drive together. The dog lessons usually take place at our Ranch outside Placerville. Since 1968 I've been a Professional Hollywood Animal Trainer, for the TV and Movie Industry, supplying any animal or vehicle you need. I am still currently active in that industry too.

My work shriveled up when Covid 19 took over. It’s been hard to rebound from the lack of business during that lockdown time. Plus what I do for people with their dogs is outside, one on one and people were still worried about being around people. Than the vaccine came out and people started to feel better about getting lessons with their dogs. All my same Advertising was out there. I did not stop it, as I wanted the possible customer to see it, if they decided to look for it. As far as Film Production work with animals, it was flatlined. Production has picked up, but lots of restrictions. So all my usual work has been very slow to get going like before Covid. So I do have to manage my money. I am thankful that we had the PUA from EDD helping us through the hardest times. Our particular line of work is not a necessity, so it might be the first not to be used when people are struggling to pay bills, put food on the table, Etc!

I offer Online training with video communication that can be worked out. It’s harder to do with my human students than the dogs. Lol! But I’ve done a lot of remote training out of state. Usually my private lessons come here to my Ranch if they can and we do a 10 week basic Obedience course with free Evaluation. I also offer advanced training, behavior issues, Service Dog and Therapy Dog training. I’ve been a Guide Dog Instructor, CCI Trainer, and a Pro Hollywood Trainer for the Film and Entertainment industry for over 51 years. I would Charge 50.00 a lesson for remote training. It adds up to 500.00 for the whole 10 weeks. I usually require all the money paid up front on all my services. Even if they come to the Ranch for Private lessons. But I can take half up front for 5 weeks to help people out and than to continue for the next 5 weeks, you pay 250.00 again.
Let me know if this is workable. If it is, please tell me how old your dog is, breed and gender. Any Fixed or not. previous training? I’ll have some more questions for you to answer so we can work up a training plan for you, should you decide to go this route. I’m trying to keep it reasonable to help people out. I started as a Professional Animal Trainer for the TV and Film industry at a very young age. My first boss, Frank Inn, was one of the largest and well known animal rental kennels for the film industry in Southern Cal and had lots of famous and well known animals in TV shows, commercials and movies. Including Benji! I just knew as a kennel worker there, I was destined to become a Hollywood Trainer. What I didn’t realize was that I was one of 4 women that would be in that field. It was totally dominated by men! But I was determined to never hear the word No, because I was a woman! So I had to prove myself on my own time! I got permission from Frank Inn, to take a Benji pup son home that I named Scamper and a Raccoon kit I named Teko. I raised them both in my parents home, where I lived. I trained them both to do lots of tricks and behaviors for film work. I would stay after work and watch the trainers work the dogs and animals and gleaned info from one Trainer named Henry, that took me under his wing! The other men trainers wouldn’t give me the time of day! I persevered and eventually became one of Frank Inns #1 Trainers! I worked for Frank for 7 years and did some amazing jobs for his company. I proved I could hold my own or better amongst the men trainers! Teko my Raccoon was one of Elle Maes critters on Beverly Hillbillies and the iconic commercial ‘It’s Not Nice to Fool Mother Nature’ with all the wild animals around her in the forest! I had Teko cover his eyes when she does the lightening thing! The director went crazy over that and shows Teko more than the other animals. It became Tekos commercial and my friends would call me and say they saw Teko on TV! It was an exciting time for me!! While I was still working for Frank Inn, one my most cherished accomplishments, was winning a 1st place AHA PATSY Award in 1973, for my work with Midnight the Cat from the opening trailer for “Mannix” and “Barnaby Jones”! Which ran every week! PATSY stands for “Performing Animal Top Star of the Year”! It was considered the equivalent of the Human Oscar Awards! Betty White was the hostess of this CBS televised event and presented me my Trophy on the stage! I won this great honor on my Birthday May 3rd! What a great present! My Scamper Benji son, eventually took over for his dad Benji, when he passed away! I did not get the credit for training him though. After I left Frank Inns I worked a short time for his General Manager Bob Blair and than left to become my own boss. I free lanced and worked with whatever company needed a trainer. It was 1976 when I got the call from Peggy Driscoll, to ask if I would take over on their dog Jack, who had been on the TV series “Little House On The Prairie” for two seasons already! I said yes instantly! Peggy said Michael Landon wanted a woman trainer to take over on Jack. I knew that Jack had been trained by one of the other woman trainers. So this made a lot of sense to bring me on board! It was definitely a highlight in my career! I worked on the show for two years, with Jack and than Jeff/Bandit, The Border Collie, working closely with Michael Landon! This was a dog trainers dream job! Later on I was asked by Rudd Weatherwax, Lassies owner and trainer, to work on two movies with Lassie! From what I know of Lassie and the trainers that worked with him ( Lassie was always a boy Collie) Rudd never had a woman trainer work with him and Lassie. So I was the first woman trainer to work with Lassie! Rudd knew me from when I worked at Frank Inns place. He knew I was very good with the cats! So the first movie I worked on was ‘The Magic of Lassie’ with Jimmy Stewart and Alice Faye. I did all the cat work with Lassie and Rudd. The next movie was a pilot for Lassies up coming new TV series. Rudd Weatherwax asked me to be the 3rd trainer with him on ‘The New Beginning’. I was so honored to work side by side with Rudd and his brother Frank! It was the ultimate validation that I was picked for my talent and not my gender! I did many more movies, TV series and commercials over the years! To name a few, I worked the dog Simone on “The Partridge Family”, with Shirley Jones and David Cassidy. Tramp the dog from “My Three Sons”, with Fred MacMurray and Don Grady! The Basset Hound On “Columbo” with Peter Falk. An Amaco Gasoline commercial with a Lab dog and Johnny Cash in Tennessee! I worked a cat with Elizabeth Taylor in her only TV movie, “Return Engagement”! I supplied all the horses and stunt doubled the witch in George Lucas’TV movie, “Ewoks 2, Battle For Endor”! Starring Wilford Brimley and Warwick Davis. I was the Animal Coordinator, also trained and supplied all the cats and the Rearing Horse in the HBO movie, “Hemingway and Gellhorn”! Starring Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen. There are so many more I worked on, too numerous to list! I’ve made a career out of my love for animals and last year I celebrated my 50th year in my industry! I am so proud to have been a pioneer, leading the way for other women to get into becoming animal trainers for the film industry! I’m proud to say I opened the door for other women! But I couldn’t have done this without the help and support of some of the greatest trainers in my business! Frank Inn and Rudd Weatherwax! They don’t make Trainers like them anymore!
