How We Got Started

After a successful run as an IT Manager at a financial company for 19+ years, I got the itch to start my own company closer to home. So in 2014, I took the leap of faith and did it. It was tough at first because I went from a very popular person who many leaned on for assistance and help from going place to place and introducing myself and having people say "Rich who ?" Fast forward and I get my first few clients and they can see the difference I make in helping them improve their state of IT, they refer me, and it takes off from there. I now help over 100 clients in some IT capacity here in the Hudson Valley.

Pretty straight forward solution is to TALK to those IT companies and consultants offering free consultations on the topic.  As a previous commenter noted, there are a lot of very good responses here. However, most are too technical and overwhelming for those who wear enough hats for their... (more) Pretty straight forward solution is to TALK to those IT companies and consultants offering free consultations on the topic.  As a previous commenter noted, there are a lot of very good responses here. However, most are too technical and overwhelming for those who wear enough hats for their business as it is. Trying to self-answer, DIY, watching webinars with the big CTA sales pitch at the end, or doing web searches (that's one way communication) becomes overwhelming. Besides you never get any straight answer on that magic question, "How much ?". So you give up. Spend 30 minutes talking (that's two way communication) with an IT consultant who also runs their own small business and can relate to the heavy hat syndrome you're experiencing. One who will not throw tech jargon all over the place. One that offers free consultations with real world solutions. You'll get the cliffs notes version of what you need to know to be prepared for a cyber security event, and get budgetary answers to the magic question without the brain drain.
