About Us

Why Prescott?
Prescott is famous as "Everybody''s Hometown." Here, and in the surrounding communities, you''ll enjoy the relaxed way of life, and lose the stress and hustle of the big city. People are friendly and there''s plenty to do and get involved with. From downtown coffee houses, to volunteer opportunities, to the performing arts. It''s a great place to raise a family.

History and Charm of Prescott:

In downtown Prescott most activities center around our local Courthouse. The Courthouse Square is bordered by the legendary Whiskey Row - watering place of the likes of Doc Holliday and the Earp Brothers a century ago. Now it''s home to attractive shops, galleries, and eateries.

Prescott hosts the World''s Oldest Rodeo every Fourth of July, inspiring a week of festivities that include a community parade around the Courthouse Square.

Prescott is also known as Arizona''s Christmas City. Visitors come from statewide and beyond to see and participate in the Lighting of the Courthouse Square, the 2 parades (one during the day and the other "electric" night parade, and to do their Christmas shopping!

And if you love history you''ll want to check out some of our Museums around here. The Sharlot Hall Museum shows the early life here in Prescott. The Phippen Museum specializing in cowboy and other Southwestern art. And the Smoki Museum which specializes in Native American Indian life.

Prescott weather and Prescott topography:

Yes, it snows in Arizona! As a matter of fact, Prescott enjoys a mild 4-season climate. At an elevation of 5,600 feet, we escape the crushing heat of the Sonoran Desert to the south. The Prescott area has long provided relief for Phoenix residents, who traditionally come to resorts or summer homes here. Our four seasons bring flowering trees in Spring, warm Summer days with afternoon Monsoon rains and cool nights, Fall color with the changing of the leaves, and Winter—with plenty of sunshine and just enough snow to keep you happy (but it doesn''t stick around).

Our varied topography means that elevation quickly changes in different directions. The City of Prescott itself offers the Bradshaw Mountains, where you can find yourself surrounded by pines, as well as lower elevations with rolling hills and the Granite Dells. Head north to Chino Valley or east to Prescott Valley and Dewey, you drop down to large parcels of flat land perfect for horses and arenas, where the temps are a little milder.
