Trending in my practice recently I have met with homeowners who have significant equity in their real estate, but no ability to pay their unsecured debts. They try to tap into their equity to pay out their unsecured debts but don't meet the requirements for refinancing their homes.
I typically refer these clients to a mortgage broker, but sometimes they don't qualify for new financing.
I have successfully helped homeowners keep the equity in their home, while making manageable monthly payments to their creditors through a consumer proposal.
