(more) Cash flow is every business owners nemesis.  Using an American Express card, third party material finance companies & meticulous bookkeeping is necessary to free up cash.  For small contracting companies, I recommend asking your customers, regardless if they are a commercial or residential, for material deposits & expense money up front.  Money management can be the hardest part of small business ownership, especially during winter months. Fill out credit apps with all of your vendors. Get a DUNNS number if your incorporated, & avoid buying personal luxury items until you have at least 3 months operating capital saved.  Too many business owners do not save money for unforseen expenses, fines, repairs, or slow months. Maintaining a positive cash flow requires sacrifice sometimes.  Live like your dead broke for as long as it takes to save money.  If monthly expenses are too high in your business, pay cash for all materials as needed. Use your customers money correctly & don't live beyond your means.  Best of luck Pros. We had 3 years of incredibly high demand. The party is about over & we will all be back to chasing jobs, negotiating pricing & laying off employees. You can thank the folks who voted for Joe Biden for our upcoming nightmare.  Bottom line, if you have been having trouble paying bills over the past 3 years, reconsider self employment & jump on with an established contractor. Old Colony Masons, Quincy Ma. is actively hiring master masons, bricklayers, stonemasons, concrete finishers, tile installers & paver installers. We have more work than we could possibly handle. Depending on what your selling, the cost of goods or service vs the investment made has to be your deciding factor.  All 3 do work. The numbers are low therefore, you have to research thousands of people. Postcards are the most cost effective direct mail approach. At least you prospects will see what you sent before immediately discarding. Depending on your budget, I'd recommend buying target leads and sending postcards for a local business, email for a wider spread of customers. Generate a FB following. That is the least expensive, most effective source of attracting new clients. People who bought from you will likely have friends and family interested in similar things.  www.OldColonyMasons.com

We plan to purchase new excavation equipment and teach a few more people the masonry business through our apprenticeship program.  Brick and stone has been the best construction material to build with for thousands of years. Our industry is forever growing and are committed to passing down our knowledge and skills to ensure that northeast Massachusetts will have qualified masons in the future. Recommendation: Old Colony Masons plans to invest in tech stocks for we feel every company and individual should learn the basics of compound interest and save for the future through the purchase of stock in a few good tech companies. Old Colony Masons wishes every business owner a happier and more profitable new year. Best of luck in 2021. www.OldColonyMasons.com Certified Master Masons.

I found, without doubt that per per click using a service like Google AdWords is a complete waste of money. We thrive without paying for advertising at all. I wanted to share how we accomplish this with you. Organic search engines is the number one way to create leads. The majority of consumers search Google for services they need. In order to rank high, you must comply with the over 200 algorithms Google uses to rank a business. 1) Upload your law office to as many free business listings you can find. You will not get business directly from most of the sites you list on however, Google will find you and rank you based on the amount of sites you are listed on. Remember, all computers, all websites are connected. 2) Content is vidal. Use Google keyword search tool to determine the most relevant keywords for your practice. Adding in near me after your keyword will help immensely. 3) Backlinks are key. Add your website address to as many forums, groups, listings as possible.  4) Write a post about your practice at least once a week on Googlemybusiness.Com Be sure to duplicate a few keywords in every post. IE: we use Certified Master Masons Stone-Brick-Tile-Pavers-Concrete in every single post we write, on all marketing, on our website, everywhere. Google will find you quickly by doing this. 5) If your not listed & verified on Googlemybusiness.com, do that now. Also list on Bing, Yahoo, Hotfrog, all local business listings. Look up free business listings & local online news papers. There's 100s of free places to lift your practice. 6) If your going to spend any money, spend it on Yext.com They list you on a ton of sites for you 7) Look up & Subscribe to Neil Patel's free marketing advise. He's a master and what he recommends works. It's all free.  7) Post pictures, make a video Upload them everywhere including utube  Again, places you know our think you won't get business from still helps with Google rankings. 8) List on instagram, Twitter, linkedin, Facebook & all other social media 9) Get reviews on Google. This is imperative. 10) Take ads the bar had already approved and duplicate the verbiage in your postings. If you need approval for every single ad, ask for new approvals daily until you have enough content covered to maintain writing several posts, events, pictures & videos no less than 3 times per month per site. I'm sure your doing many of these things but I found that the attorneys I hired &/or are friends with do not post enough or at all. This information will help you gain clients, more phone calls and all for free. If you put the work in, an hour a day, you will never pay for advertising again Best wishes,  Old Colony Masons, Quincy, Ma. 02169 Certified Master Masons Stone-Brick-Tile- Pavers-Concrete www.oldcolonymasons.com As you see, I add my keywords even for this private message to you because Google will see it.

(more) I have been in business for almost 30 years and found that small claims court can be a very frustrating experience for both consumers as well as business owners. Some courts literally hang signs stating that they can not enforce judgements. I recommend trying to settle all disputes outside of court if at all possible. Civil & small claims court is about compromise. All parties in a suit usually wind up feeling dissatisfied. Even if you win your case hands down and the judge or magistrate enters a judgement, getting paid is an entirely new and costly battle.   The courts allow payment plans, excuses for missing payments are acceptable, reasons for not paying at all are entertained and a new judgement can be passed down.  ITS FRUSTRATING & often seems unfair. Knowing that you will be forced to compromise, often through a court issued mediator, do yourself a favor and swallow your pride, forget about ego and settle your dispute on your own, even if you have to take less money than is owed to you. If you can get the defendant to pay you a portion of what they owe without having to file suit, take the money and chalk it up to a lesson learned. I know all about the emotional side of being right and demanding justice but you will not easily find it in a courtroom.    If a defendant doesn't pay you, they probably don't have the money or they are con artists who play the system to their advantage.  1) You have to know where to serve the defendant to take them to court in the first place. Poor people move allot. 2) If you win the full amount of your suit, many times amount you ask for will be reduced, there's a high likelihood the person will not pay the entire amount or at all. 3) You then have to pay a sheriff or constable to serve a contempt of court subpoena and go to court again. Remember, time is money!   4) Any reasonable excuse the defendant gives is accepted by the judge, you can't bleed a stone. 5) A new judgement & payment plan will be ordered, That doesn't help you much. 6) If the defendant pays as little as a dollar a month, the courts can't do much. again, you can't bleed a stone. 7) If the defendant doesn't pay at all again, your back to step 3 8) Getting wage garnishment will cost you a lot of money and several visits to court before the judge issues that and unless the defendant has direct deposit, you will have even more difficulty getting a court to order a business to deduct the garnishment from the employees wages. Courts do not want to be in a position were they are responsible for someone losing their job. 9) Everytime the defendant doesn't comply with a court order, you have to pay to have the person served. Many people, including myself have given up chasing the person due to the overwhelming difficulty, loss of time, missed work etc. MAKE A DEAL WITH THE PERSON WHO OWES YOU AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE.  America doesn't put people in jail for being poor or unable to pay. Excuses are always accepted & in most cases, the person you are suing does not care about their inability to get credit due to a judgement against them. I hope these lessons that I have learned from experiences chasing people in court who owe me money will save you the time, headache and expense. You now know that getting any money at all that is owed to you is better than spending more money trying to get the courts to intervene.

Turning current customers into a source of advertising is simple in theory but requires hard work. 1) First and foremost, provide your customers with the very best customer service. In the age of automation, it has become easy to provide outstanding customer service by simply providing a human being to respond to your customers questions. 2) Confirm all appointments,  3) Contact your customers before, during and after your business with them is finished. Ask what you can do for them to improve your service or product . 4) Provide the very best services and or products possible. 5) Ask your customers for referrals. You will be amazed at how many referrals we receive by asking for them. 6) Follow up with your Customer/client 7) Get their email & Facebook addresses. Ask them to like your business on Facebook. 8) Treat every customer as you would a family member or close friend. People want to feel special and each person is very special in their own way. Recognize that fact and make a lifelong customer. Staying in touch with your existing clients will result in getting referrals from them. Send an email to thank them for your business. Offer a discount for a future service or product  The way you treat a person will impact their future buying decisions a great deal. Develope a relationship with every customer you get. Remember their names, likes, dislikes, the names of their family members etc.  If you truly care about people, convey that through action. When a customer is made to feel like you care about them, they will refer you to their friends, coworkers and family members.  Best of Luck.
