Wait - this just in from Google (Ala Wikipedia) In marketing, brand management is the analysis and planning on how that brand is perceived in the market. Developing a good relationship with the target market is essential for brand management. Tangible elements of brand management include the product itself; look, price, the packaging, etc. Now where was I before being so rudely interrupted... ah yes, is brand management complicated. Let's break what was said above into its intricate parts. "Brand management is the analysis and planning on how that brand is perceived in the market." This has nothing to do with social media, SEO, email marketing, PPC or whatever other marketing strategy you want to throw at the Web. Brand management starts long before any of these ideas even begin to take root. It starts in the dark recesses of your minds eye as you plot your vision for world domination - niche style, of course. While it can hold components of various marketing strategies carrying out activities thereof is not brand management but rather branding building. I see the two as entirely different entities. The next Wikipedia sentences appears to back me up... "Developing a good relationship with the target market is essential for brand management." The relationship process is essential for not the definition of brand management. This, of course, leads me to a question. Do you find it difficult to dream? Maybe you do. I don't. The dreaming process of planning your vision forward is the happy land of brand management. On that note, dreaming is a very easy activity in my opinion. The implementation of that dream... well... now that is a completely different conversation.

Yes, there are fees involved. These days pretty much everyone is going to charge you for something. That's why your business model needs to take this into consideration as part of its business expense. If your business cannot survive service fees then may I suggest that you are running to close to the margin for long-term success to be possible? For example, I tried using FB ads to sell products and found I was spending more on ads than what I was making in the products. My margins were to close. Then I redesigned everything so that each FB ad had possibilities of multiple profit centers. The FB ad expense now doesn't matter. If you would like to see how I set everything up visit this page. Yes, FB ads can cost money. Yes, PayPal service fees can take money. And yes, this should be part of your business model or your business won't survive. At least I know mine wouldn't.

Is your business local, regional, national or global? Are you attempting to reach B2B or B2C clients. DEFINITION Define B2B: Business to Business Define B2C: Business to Consumer Who your audience is makes a direct impact on how you go about approaching them. As the local SEOGuy my target market is local business owners that want to increase their market share. Interestingly enough a large percentage of my own customers and clients operate from a B2C position. For local business owners I believe that the best opportunity for their success revolves around Google. Not Google Maps. Not Google Organic. Google everything. While my focus is Google the multifaceted nature of it is quite diverse. It involves... Blogging Local link building Directory citation creations And more. In fact, with my own efforts I also blog out to LinkedIn and then share those posts which are taken from my website blogging with my various social media connections. Especially Google. How I make this happen is perhaps the bottom line answer to this entire question. In fact, at the end of the day it just might be that no matter what type of client you work with or for that this is at the top of the list. I just didn't think of it at first and neither will you. It's organization. When I first got started in business I didn't pay it much mind. Today, I do. Everything move I make is setup in a spreadsheet and checked off for that day. That includes this Alignable post. I stay consistent with the process while adjusting it as knew ideas become part of my workflow process. It might seem like this takes a lot more time, but it doesn't. Actually, because of this approach with ViralTNTeam I am getting more done today than ever before.

The interesting part with this possible radio interview is I have known this individual for years but we simply didn't have time to connect. Because of Alignable we reconnected and now this opportunity is potentially rising. NOTE: I love doing interviews talking about how local businesses need to be using Google search for optimum results with their business marketing strategies.

I do believe that what you do on Alignable does get ranked on Google but such is the case for whatever you do no matter what network you are connected to. I've recently started publishing posts on LinkedIn and am seeing a direct correlation between my work there and the amount of traffic my website is receiving. Social media in whatever form you approach it is a time commitment. An important point is to remain focused on whatever niche you are targeting so people will have a greater chance of finding you and your services. However, Alignable is far from my only outreach and I'm not only on LinkedIn either. I do something that many people hate to do and even hate to receive. It's called cold eMails. As much as it is so hated it works. I am also heavily vested into SEO strategies. My plan is to start doing public presentations in the near future. Maybe after the holidays. I say all that to make my final point of client acquisition comes from a multiplicity of avenues rather than just one. There was actually a time when I got all my clients from a single source and it was great until that source dried up.

When they tap into my local SEO services the result will be higher organic rankings on Google as well as listing at the top of the snack packs in Google maps. Ranking there will mean increased business which means more work. That's the part where things get harder for my clients. Of course, a successful local business requires a steady flow of new, returning and growing customers in order to stay in business. With myself on board that's what my clients receive which makes this aspect easier for them. So I guess it becomes a give and take in their life. Give up ease of not having to work in exchange for the difficulty of dealing with a growing clientele base.

Those who think what you offer is to expensive out of the gate will likely become proverbial pains in your backside in the end. They will complain about how expensive you are each and every month it comes time to invest in your services. Those that understand it is indeed an INVESTMENT are the one's that you want to work with. Think about how many businesses are on the web today. Why put up with fussy clients when you can work with the cream of the crop? The local SEO services that I provide are typically in the 1K range. My price isn't for everyone. That's okay. I don't need everyone. With just 10 clients I bring in a very nice 10K monthly. If someone starts to be fussy about my price I simply don't put up with it. First, I will show them why the value is a good INVESTMENT for them. If they still complain I'll suggest they find a lesser provider that is more inline with their budget concerns. If they continue to complain but also pay and they get ultra annoying to me I will fire them. Yes, you as the business owner do have the ability to fire your clients and their are times when you should.

If a potential client is not responding to you from a non-client position what will they do when they become your client? Evidently they are not really interested in receiving your services or they would respond differently. They may be in total need of what you offer but if they don't believe such to be the case there isn't going to be a great deal that you can do to change their mind. Someone once said ... A man convinced against his will is unconvinced still. Someone was right.

It doesn't work. I've lost customers because they need to secure the months service before I start doing the work. That's okay, just because someone is looking for the exact service that I offer doesn't mean that they are the ideal customer for me... Or you. If I really want to work with the client and they are not willing to put the full amount upfront I will go for a 50/50 split. 50% is due up front and 50% at the end of the month. In this strategy they pay half the bill at the beginning of the month. On month 2 they pay the last part of month 1 and the first part of month 2 which is the same thing as a full month. The most I am ever risking in that senario is 50% of month 1.
