How To Take Much-Needed Time Off When You Run A Business: 23 Owners Sound Off

Great article, and so timely. I was inundated with art commission requests in December, and I had to set a limit. No special commission orders after 12/15, which gave me time to finish the orders I had on time and to keep up with market days. It's hard to turn down work, but customers have to be realistic about what they are asking for. If they really like my work, they will be back anyhow. I also announced with some advance that I would take a week off at the holiday starting 12/23. I still check in on social media, but no orders taken and no work. I'm starting 2020 filling my schedule and getting my game plan on, but I will also fit in a mini-vacation that's chill because a week off at years end is still hectic. I'm thinking more like a January retreat to a sunny destination! I hae no employees, so it's all on me, and I deserve it 💕.
