About Us
The Annex Accommodations provides a one bedroom Cottage that is completely furnished and outfitted for guests who need a place for a one month minimum. There is a full kitchen, washer and dryer, WIFI, and Direct TV--perfect for a person or couple working in the area, visiting relatives or looking for a permanent home nearby. It is set back from the street with a native plant garden and live oak tree providing privacy and coolness. The Cottage is within walking distance of our downtown shopping area. Very convenient!
How We Got Started
We owned a vacant property next door to our residence and had wanted to start a "self-catering" bed and breakfast business after retirement. We had traveled extensively and enjoyed the hospitality of B and B owners and the like. Then we learned about corporate and short-term rentals which are similar to the European model. Recently we updated the cottage after nine years in this business.

I only need house cleaners and handyman helpers at times. Because my number of short-term rentals is two, I don't need partners. Some day in the future I may want to hire someone to manage my business, but I don't need that help now.

More people have been interested in renting my short-term accommodations for the summer and fall. My Studio apartment won't be available until winter.

I'm finding that renters want to pay less now for short-term accommodations. All the taxes and expenses on utilities are increasing for us landlords. It's a complicated time at present.

Once upon a time I had a Facebook account to advertise my short-term rentals. That never was useful, and I discontinued any Facebook account. I've been listing on "short-term" listings: CHBO, Sublet.com, Airbnb, and my own website. Also, I'm on Yelp and other spots I may not even know about. ...
