About Us
My business is a general counseling business which includes clinical and career counseling, as well as evaluation of interests and abilities, when desired. I have extra licensing and certifications in addiction, mediation and custody, and various areas of special education. I attend
IEPs so that I can make certain parents get what is available in the system for them. I am also involved in several reunification cases. This is where children have been taken from the parents by DCFS and it is time for them to join or visit their parents again. Although my license is not currently OK'd for Medicare, I do have over 6 seniors where we spend our work on Generativity vs. Stagnation. I also had two years counseling, assessing and observing in medical/rehab/mental health. I always have patients with serious chronic illnesses and I stay educated in the physical health/ mental health connection. I keep a list of psychiatrists, social workers and specialty workers and refer clients to them when the client needs something that I don't have expertise in. I have been a full time professional counselor, along with being a full time educational guidance and administrator for over thirty years.

Now, right up questions for your self interview which bring out your best. Get a friend who is in business to ask you the questions and then help you refine them. You will begin to feel more and more ready if you use what Abel and Soffi suggest and all the other Alignables. And begin to feel that the world is missing something important by not having you as an employee. You need to believe you are wanted.

Any therapy, counseling, psychology, or even legal support have people that stay as well people that come and go. People who stay know that they continue to need the services and they note that they are getting closer to what their goal is. People who come and go are frequently more challenging and when they come back, it demonstrates that you (the business owner) met their need in a positive and memorable way. So, in short, people come back based on connecting, feeling understood, believing that you gave them the right product or service and that they were a "person" of value to you, not vice versa.
The number one way that I promote my business is to network and/or to utilize the services of other professionals for myself and then make certain that these know what my skill set is.

My best closing line is "if you think there is some other person or other type of help you would like, please ask me or someone else in the business for a referral. We all are very aware that not every therapist is for every client, but we all want to see people to to good professionals and, I am not hurt or insulted when someone would like to see someone else."

I have found that my name goes out from happy and/or knowledgeable customers. In my case, this could be school people, other clinicians, psychiatrists. Since this is such a digital world, I then recommend people to look me up on one of the digital media forums. I have actually found that my cards are not too helpful. I mostly have used them to refer a client to another clinician, or a book, or write their next appointment on the back of the card.
Like other people who have responded, I also listen. Plus, I mentor others in my field.
