I do have loyal customers and appreciate their orders, but the ones I truly enjoy working with are my loyal CLIENTS (see difference below). My loyal clients are the ones I can brainstorm with and work alongside to help them be more successful in their promotional marketing. They are the ones who see the value of my knowledge and know that I can help them get the most effective, targeted, long lasting items ... with personalized service they can't get when ordering through a random website that might have the cheapest price they can find. They are the ones who come back to me on a monthly or quarterly basis, some times more often. There is a lot of competition out there for every industry. Many times the internet is one of our toughest competitors. We have to go the extra mile to set ourselves apart, and that's how we will gain loyalty!BusinessDictionary.com defines customer in a purely transactional way involving the consumption of goods and services. Here, the relationship is not very deep. The same site’s definition for client is geared toward the involvement of a “professional service provider.” Typically, hiring someone for their specific set of skills (i.e. attorney, agent or PR professional) makes you their client, and implies that the relationship is much deeper and requires more involvement

If you are not already plugged in to the homeschool community, I would suggest finding a local co-op or Classical Conversations group and see if you can offer one class for free at their usual location as a way to introduce yourself and your music school. Once you give the class you can talk to them about what it would cost to add your program to their homeschool curriculum. Many coops are in need of music teachers/classes/programs and the parents would end up being a great referral source in the long run!
In addition, I'd suggest making sure that each family you come into contact with always walks away with something they will KEEP that has your school info on it (name, phone number, and web address at the least). It needs to be more than a flyer. It needs to be something they will find useful. Promotional products really work when they are targeted to the end user! Don't just think of promo items as "give-aways" ... If they are not kept, you will just be giving away YOUR money. But if you think about what your little musicians want/need (or their parents since they are your TRUE target audience ... the people who will be making the decision to pay for the classes) and be purposeful in your marketing, then promotional items can give you an amazing ROI when you consider the cost per "impression."
May your school prosper and be a blessing to many!
