Tender grassroots is guided by a holistic approach philosophy, we provide the community with resources, knowledge and skills that will empower them to end the cycle of poverty. Through our services, we aim to improve the quality of, and access to, affordable primary education and healthcare as well as community development initiatives, without discrimination based on gender orientation or religious affiliations. While we are open to serving the entire community, our interventions are centered around the needs of the vulnerable in the population (children, elderly, low-income homes).
As a tenet of our holistic approach, we ensure sustainability of our programs by bringing in the community stakeholders at the onset and involving them, where appropriate, throughout its lifecycle. This ensures that we a) design suitable interventions; b) get buy-in from the community thus making the implementation easier; and c) transfer knowledge and skills thus facilitating ownership even after project completion.
We are partnering with organizations, businesses and individuals both local and international with the hope to offer opportunity, growth, and job creation
Tender Grassroots was established in December 2019 by its founder, Fatuma Doka, a certified medical practitioner with over four decades of experience working in Uganda, Kenya and the United States. During her trip to Uganda in October 2019, she took the opportunity to visit her village and her former primary (elementary) school. She was shocked to see the dire situation with most people in her community; lack of access to basic human services such as healthcare, education and clean water. Whilst the community showed resilience and resourcefulness by making the most out of the little income and few facilities at hand, it is a battle that they are losing. It became apparent that a systematic approach to tackling these challenges was paramount. With her years of experience and expertise in the medical field, her connections with the community and a passion to contribute towards a community that raised her, Tender Grassroots was born.
