For years, I poured my heart into understanding how to care for an aging population, a journey inspired my upcoming book, *A Mindfulness Journey: Caring for An Aging Population*. In 2020, life gave me the chance to turn knowledge into action. I began traveling from my home in California to my parents’ home in Maryland, every month. Some visits lasted a week, others stretched into over a month, depending on how much they needed me. The experience was a profound, often overwhelming. Caregiving is not an easy path—it challenges you in ways you do not expect—but it also deepens your capacity to love.
I think of my mother often during this journey. I watched her care for her mother, her brother, and my paternal grandmother. She shouldered so much, often alone, until the family stepped in to help.
