My own divorce was one of the hardest things I’d ever been through. I was grieving for myself, my son, and my family. I doubted my abilities as a parent, and I was afraid for my financial well-being and my future. I honestly thought I’d never be happy again.
Even with decades of experience as a courtroom lawyer and prosecutor, I felt overwhelmed by the swirl of confusion and high stakes that came with every decision I had to make. My own lawyer was excellent, but didn’t have time to sit with me while I agonized over each new development and tried to make sense of it all.
I wish I’d had a guide who knew the ropes and could help me through. Not just with the legal aspect, but everything else: my fears, my feelings, how to handle my ex, what to say to my son, who to talk to about finances, what to do about my career, when to take a pause, when to say no.
