How We Got Started

I studied law while working as a Human Resources Manager in the Medical Devices industry. After completing the degree, I decided to help small and medium employers to do things right and reduce their legal problems. Our working team in Sara M. Chico Law Office is committed to employers and companies who needs legal services but will not be able to afford big law firm's rates.

But if the company wrongfully labeled your relationship as an independent contractor, but the relationship does no qualifies as such, then you are really an employee. As an employee, you have the right to be covered by workmen compensation and other rights the federal law and the law of the state you are located may provide for employees.

With this policy you have a protection against lawsuits related to work illness and accidents. Not having the employees covered, the employer is liable for employee's damages, cost of medical treatment, disability or death compensations and up to 25% of administrative expenses due to the PR Workmen Compensation Corporation.
