How We Got Started

After commuting long distances for many years as a project manager for a general contractor, I decided to find ways to serve the community where I live and end the time wasted in traffic. I started as a handyman service, developed good working relationships with apartment building owners, obtained my broker's license, and began offering full-service property management, leasing vacancies, improving apartment interiors, maintenance, and repair for apartments. Since I'm always nearby I can always respond quickly when urgent items arise.

If you consistently make networking a component of your outreach/marketing for new clients it will pay off over time. You may have good results with all of the above at one time or another, but for consistent results perhaps the best time for you is the time and type of event that you personally enjoy the most too. If you are enjoying the experience the people you meet while networking will sense your are relaxed and confident. I think they will be more likely to consider working with you under those conditions.

I used small, inexpensive ads in local paper(s). It worked great. I met my #1 client through an ad I ran for 3 months and have client relationships with others that have lasted since that first call now many years ago. I don't need to advertise today, too busy. Haha....too soon, but back at work anyway. I guess it depends on the urgency of meeting and it's purpose. Some may still be in holiday mode and just hanging for the weekend.
