Cara DeLaRosa
Cara DeLaRosa is a certified animal hospice
professional and certified pet loss grief coach who helps pet parents navigate diagnoses, medication adjustments, veterinary support and their animal's end-of-life journey through a comprehensive holistic approach.
She assists pet parents in navigating the most difficult decision…finding the right time to plan for a mindful transition, that is neither too soon, nor too prolonged.
Her quality of life evaluations are thorough and bring relief to families grappling with the decision of timing for euthanasia. She is adept at working with family dynamics to ensure all caregivers are on the same page and creates a custom "end of life" map for each family.
She makes sure all end-of-life questions are answered accurately and prepares pet parents for multiple scenarios, taking time to explain disease processes, veterinary procedures & terminology.
As a certified pet loss grief coach, she helps pet parents navigate the nuances of grief and loss with compassion and well-researched therapeutic practices.
She is a member of the Pet Loss Professionals Alliance as well as the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care.
I have a very long origin story and over a decade in this specialty field. My experience is a combination of formal training, my own personal pet loss journey and experiential hands-on work.
I launched my own businesses in 2012 focused on senior and special needs pets. While my hospice and grief work started in 2012, I was formally certified as a pet loss companion in 2016. A new certification opened up in 2023 by the IAAHPC, which I quickly jumped on. I am now also formally certified as an Animal Hospice Advocate at the highest level offered.
