Common Sense Behavior Services
We are an animal behavior consulting service for animal owners and pet adopters. We utilize positive reinforcement techniques to modify and reinforce desired behaviors.
While in college at UC Davis, I joined the Animal Behavior Club. I went on to apprentice with a nationally renowned trainer specializing in personal protection dogs using positive reinforcement. After that, I joined the Canine Behavior Team at SFSPCA before purchasing Common Sense in January 1998. It had been a leading training and behavior business since 1985. I have worked in nonprofit and municipal shelters, including my time as a Behavior Lead with the national nonprofit, the ASPCA. I then developed and ran the Behavior Department at Sonoma County Animal Services. Next, I worked as the Behavior Manager at ARF. Throughout my career, I have served on shelter advisory committees, worked with government-run shelters, and assisted many rescue organizations and nonprofits. I continue to learn by attending animal behavior conferences and webinars. However, I believe that we truly learn from every animal that we work with and I have worked with tens of thousands of them.
