About Us

Jere's Antiques has been in business since 1976. Jere works out of his own 33,000 sq. ft. warehouse in downtown Savannah, Ga. Jere maintains his own warehouse in England and has people that work for him that pick and buy throughout Britain and on the continent in Belgium, Holland and France. Jere has averaged unloading a 40 ft. high cube container of Antique Furniture into his building in Savannah every 2 weeks of the year since opening in 1976. Jere maintains an incredible range of furniture from the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries in all styles, woods and price ranges. Jere's Antiques is a must see place if you love Antique Furniture. You've never been anywhere like Jere's.

I have been in business for myself for 44 1/2 years up to today.  I have always paid all of my employees more that minimum wage.  If the minimum wage goes up to $15.00, I will probably have to let one of my workers go.   I believe that an across the board increase to $15.00 an hour minimum wage... (more) I have been in business for myself for 44 1/2 years up to today.  I have always paid all of my employees more that minimum wage.  If the minimum wage goes up to $15.00, I will probably have to let one of my workers go.   I believe that an across the board increase to $15.00 an hour minimum wage will certainly help some percentage of the population.  I also know that good percentage of people will be laid off of work due to the inability of the small business owner to afford paying the difference.  I also know that the cost of nearly every thing for sale, be it a product or a service,  will go up in price to allow businesses to pay the extra money needed to pay for the wage increase.  Small business owners are not extremely wealthy, like most people think they are.  We work long, hard hours to make a living that is sometimes better than some and always not as much as others.  We work because we love what we do.  An across the board increase in the minimum wage will, in my opinion, over the long run have an adverse affect on the small businesses in the U.S.A. I know that a lot of small businesses that are hanging on by a thread in the strange market we live in now will be forced to close and let all of their employees go.  Be very cautious and very slow in implementing the proposed wage increase.  Th timing is very poor for this to happen now.

In general, I think that loyalty from a customer is more difficult today than it has been in the past.  Most people are so motivated about nothing but the cost of an item.  They will purchase from someone that may offer them a like, or similar object,  for 1 cent less than you and never consider... (more) In general, I think that loyalty from a customer is more difficult today than it has been in the past.  Most people are so motivated about nothing but the cost of an item.  They will purchase from someone that may offer them a like, or similar object,  for 1 cent less than you and never consider factors such as customer service, reputation, and who they are doing business with.  I still find that you can create a good environment for loyalty by selling a good product at a good price and by being nice, friendly and helpful to your customer.  If you do the right things and you do not get loyalty from your customer, it is not your fault.
