Dear Abel & Sofi: Publisher Puts Pub On Pause After Hubby Passes

I agree you should farm out the graphic art side of the business. I would lean towards hiring an experienced graphic artist, though, because you're a small operation and don't have time to train someone. Be open to new graphic ideas; you might find the magazine is better than ever!

Farming out an area like the graphic arts part of the business requires good specialist legal representation who can design legal agreements to prevent the people and entities from taking away that part of their business leaving the widow high and dry. That is expensive and you have to have a lot to offer in order to justify the expense and be able to motivate graphic artists and their companies to sign agreements that protect you. Better consult with an expert before that part of the business is gone with the wind.
