About Us

HITS 105.5

Demographics and Format HITS 105.5 WMVR has arrived and is offering a unique format that no other station in the United States can offer! What does that mean to you the advertiser? Return on investment! HITS 105.5 was created by WMVR to reach the key demographics of male and female ages 25 to 65. If a primary and secondary needed to be stated, that would be a coin toss! WMVR created HITS 105.5 by listening to what our broadcast area was asking for. Keeping track of the music requests, advertiser’s comments, emails, and Facebook posts helped us make the perfected HITS 105.5 radio station format. HITS 105.5… WMVR worked with one of the best music companies in the US, which offered several different formats to choose from. Rock, Pop, Jazz, Hot AC, Jack, and Bob. That is to name just a few. None of those formats was what our research was telling us. At that point, WMVR decided that a female name was in demand for our format. We are the only female named format station! This format was then created with the information that you our broadcasting areas provided! The recipe goes something like this; a pinch of today’s hits, a smidge of the hot hits of the 2000’s, a few tablespoons of the alternative 90’s then a couple tablespoons of the Rockin 80’s and then last a dash of the most remembered 2010’s! HITS 105.5 WMVR… Your Upper Miami Valley's Hit Music Station! One of the very few independently owned radio stations left!

How We Got Started

WMVR-FM...1960s
WMVR-FM first came on the air in the spring of 1965, at first as a simulcast and continuation of WMVR-AM's programming into the evening hours after local sunset sign-off time on its AM frequency. It was later that year when actor, broadcaster and Ohio native, Dean Miller and his wife Ida (Wagner) Miller incorporated as The Dean Miller Broadcasting Corporation (its licensee) which purchased the stations from Van Wert Broadcasting. Eventually a full-time air studio was built at the Russell Road site while the downtown offices and studio focused on news, sales, promotion and audio production.
Eventually after finalizing plans, Miller moved the entire operation to the Russell Road site after a new office/studio complex was built in the summer of 1969 where it remains today, owned by Michelle Stallard.
