How We Got Started
I started my business after taking LaSalle Accounting and Federal Tax by mail in 1965. I officially started my business on January 01, 1967. The first few years were very lean. Eventually we added additional rooms to our house to accommodate my growing business. We now have six offices and a waiting room.

This is high end and if you are not doing a fair amount of tax returns, this one would not be for your company. Look for a program that is easy to use, make sure it does all of the programs such as federal, state, cities and can do a married or married filing separate comparsion. I hope this helps you figure it out, most software companies will give your a demo or will let you try it free online.

Word of mouth is your best marketing and advertising because there is not cost involved. If you treat your clients with respect, do a good job and do not over charge they will be a client for life.

The best way to tell a client bad news, is to be straight forward and let them know that they owe the IRS, state or city and point out the reasons why they owe the money and how they can fix the problem.

I agree with Bernard! Small businesses struggle to begin with and adding the burden of making loan payments is adding fuel to the fire. Try to make it without a loan.
