This is a high school-level online course and ministry developed by a former homeschool parent, teacher, and college instructor. Students explore 13 competencies for life gained by the study of history. They build their confidence, motivation, enjoyment, and ability to approach history on their terms, with the freedom to tailor some assignments to fit their interests and the level of challenge they need. I developed my central ideas from experiences in several areas: graduate studies in history and education; teaching in 3 departments (History, Developmental Studies, and the School of Education) at local higher ed institutions; teaching Social Studies to Middle School and High School students; experience in the business world (marketing educational programs produced by our local PBS affiliate, retail sales and management, outside sales in the Financial Services industry as a Registered Investment Advisor Associate, and business development for my own online businesses); and military and leadership training as a Marine Officer Candidate.
