I have been in the real estate business since 1976 and have seen many changes in the market. With the exception of a couple of years in the '80s my income has increased each year. However, I started to diversify very early in my career and that has brought me financial stability. I began building my real estate investment portfolio the first year I was in the business and that is what pays all my living expenses, so I do not have the same pressure to produce as other agents. I also have a property management component to my business and that helps carry the burden when sales are lagging. Remember everyone needs a place to live. Having financial security has allowed me the freedom to become an instructor and mentor to new agents - a job that I truly love. What a joy it is to lend a helping hand to someone's future success.
