Limited and timely communications and inclusion. We don't babysit, we inspire and help each other out, and we allow our team(s) to make responsible decisions on their time... we answer to our clients, they are all our bosses. We created a watercooler place to "hang out", we have other vertical channels for our salespeople to chat, sales and management, just management, technical channels, and teams, all staff channel for news and updates, etc. We have monthly all hands on deck meetings every 3rd Thursday teleconferencing and/or video conf. Been doing it for 20 years, when we started, people thought I was nutz... well I am still in biz and I have a very happy and stable crew.

Give them a test and put them through some paces if you can. The more you try, the more you will get... (more) Get demo versions of the current shrink-wrapped/off the shelf  offerings that appeal to you. Some may be SAAS web applications, and some may have you install a localized version on your computer. Give them a test and put them through some paces if you can. The more you try, the more you will get a better understanding of what features you like and need, and which ones you don't.  Which offerings have friendly user interfaces and make sense to use to YOU with little to no training. Which ones will give you the reports you need or want, or the ability to customize the reports if required. Check their user licensing agreements. How many users you will need to use the solution. Just you? You and a few in the office? Can it be used remotely? Mobile app version for some special tasks? Try as many as you can. Then it will boil down to costs once you whittle down to the versions you like. We write a lot of custom applications, and whenever we get a customer who have little to no idea of what they want or need, this is the eXercise we make them go through. They get educated on what is out there, they see what works and what doesn't, and they see what versions come up short.  You'll notice sometimes that Pkg A has a set of features you love but then lacks some other odds and ends, and then Pkg B has the things you need but lacks some luster in the interface, or Pkg C looks great, but has too many limits and lacks features or Pkg D is overkill but it had things you thought were GREAT! The key here, try as many as you can. my 2¢

We offer our clients credits to their account. We give them the links to 4 places to leave reviews; Google Biz, FaceBook, BBB, and our own survey on our website. We ask that they leave an honest and sincere review, score, and a quote. The clients get 1 credit for each review they... (more) We offer our clients credits to their account. We give them the links to 4 places to leave reviews; Google Biz, FaceBook, BBB, and our own survey on our website. We ask that they leave an honest and sincere review, score, and a quote. The clients get 1 credit for each review they leave regardless if positive or negative. Then we SPIFF our internal staff who worked with that client on a sliding point scale,  based on the clients' review and score (1-5), the higher the score a client leaves the better the SPIFF. We send out a standard template to our clients asking for their review with no hints or a push for a perfect score. Win/win.

Hire a competent IT consultant and/or software company. The Apple/Mac platform is very robust. Answer the phone, respond to inquiries, immediately. You'd be surprised how many companies in our space don't respond to their leads. Ask the right questions, no "pitch", get to their needs, what they're looking for, and what they want and eXpect from their vision of a service provider. Make sure... Make sure we are a good fit for their eXpectations. Sometimes we actually try and "Not sell" them on us - give them our competitors who may fit their mental mold of what they want. #1, is honesty.

We have some LG's who have been referring business to us for 5 plus years, and we have those who come and go. We pay out... We have some LG's who have been referring business to us for 5 plus years, and we have those who come and go. We pay out commissions on the 1st and 15th of every month. We don't ask for much either, just contact info, a good positive plug and a hand off/intro of their referral to us. It has worked well for us for quite sometime. No funny business, all straight up and very black and white.

Our terms are simple, prepaid blocks of time. In brief here is our approach - An initial estimate is given during the sales process. They then retain our services by buying a block of time, and then we do a more thorough and in-depth analysis and review - which tends to trickle up a lot more... They then retain our services by buying a block of time, and then we do a more thorough and in-depth analysis and review - which tends to trickle up a lot more details and needs than what the account managers were told initially during the sales cycle. So a revised estimate and phase is given to the client, hours and calendar timeframes, and the client sets the pace by the blocks of time they purchase, and their ability too review the deliverables or works-in-progress. Feedback is received, if anything out of the ordinary comes to light or client changes some serious directions, we revise the estimate again.
