In addition to checks they can also pay by credit card and then I could set up auto pay to where it's automatically taken out of their card. For those who pay by check I have a service level agreement and in that agreement if they're late on payment they risk the possibility of disruption in service which may impact their ability to do business so that is fully disclosed up front in a written agreement that both parties sign. Bottom line it's extremely important to set expectations up front.

(more) Henrietta,Having a customer profile/persona that specifically identifies your target market would be one of many steps that would go along way in helping. What do THEY value - remember they, the customer, will always be approaching you with a 'what's in it for me' mindset, what is the specific demographic, their personality types, specific pain points (perhaps those you could specialize in to make you further stand out vs 'jack of all trades, master of none), WHERE do they get their information online and offline and what do they look for in a company that offers the services you do? This will begin to shape your marketing message AND you'll know WHERE to target that message. IF you do not have a unique value proposition or an unfair advantage that distinguishes you from your competitor, then the prospective customer will go back to their default 'guideline' and look at price - at which point you've become a commodity based service not value based.Looking at your competition in the area, the overall market for opportunities as well as identifying strategies and tactics used to create name brand awareness, and lead generation will begin to shape a road map for promoting your business and will ID both problems and opportunities you most likely aren't aware of that can be addressed. While Word of Mouth is great, don't put all your eggs in one basket. If a business solely relies on W.O.M then that is a passive approach - especially in the early stages of a business. The stake holder(s) is hoping that other people will spread the word - you can't control when or how often that happens vs taking a more pro-active approach.Branding is created by the experience people have working with you. The logo is an iconic presentation that is associated with that brand. While the feed back you get could help-there is not always a one-size-fits-all approach, having something tailored specifically to meet your needs based on the findings by doing a deep dive in discovery would be a good place to start. My Dad use to own his own Construction Company as well as Real Estate. There is a saying I've heard more than once. "Measure Twice, Cut Once."

(more) Having a customer profile/persona created that includes their personality type, pain points they have with out your service, WHERE they get their information online and offline and what do they look for in a company that offers what you do.Once you have a clear picture of the customer - not what you think it is, but what they say it is, then it's not just a matter of what tactics you use, but adjusting your message in a way that resonates with them - the focus is on them and what their benefit is, not about the company. Once you know where they "hang out" online, that would reveal where to focus your energy and efforts vs having someone sell you on doing something because 'everyone else' does it or because a service provider offers that. That is not a basis for the decision.Going through a full discovery process about your business, customer, market, competition, strategies and tactics would reveal the road map to present a high value solution for your customers (and your business) which would get the phone to ring.

Are you targeting local, regional, national? IF local or regional, what are the viable opportunities to market to them? What are the age demographics of the Physicians? Knowing how certain generations respond to marketing would be a big help in determining what tactics to use that resonate.Looking at your competition to discover overall strategies and tactics. After all, your target audience would most likely have a choice from other providers who meet their need/solve their problem. How are you different than the other options? I'm giving a very brief high level response to a much more involved question, but once you go through a discovery process that dives deep into the areas, you would not only know better how and where to engage them, but in all likelihood learn about other challenges and problems that you weren't aware of that could help your business be more efficient and effective. If you've never attempted to go through that process or don't know how to approach this, feel free to reach out to those that are willing to to take time and understand your business, your target client/customer, market and competition along with evaluating Strategy/Tactics so that you can develop a solution to the challenges and problems you face. All The Best, Doug
