(more) I produce a series of large scale business networking events and I see the grand benefits as well as the mistakes people make. The two most significant are trying to sell rather than making introductions and post event follow-up. Many people here have properly mentioned, it's about planting seeds and then cultivating them. I hear from past participants all of the time about a contact they made at one of our events and it took three months, six months, a year to develop a successful business relationship with that person. Get out there and attend events, nothing beats a face-to-face interaction. Relax and enjoy meeting others. Develop a follow-up strategy and be patient but persistent.
