If they ignore them online (whether they handled them offline or not, how would I know?) then I would likely move on. I want to know the company is responsive to complaints and focused on remedying them if they occur. I am not saying that the whole process of the remedy has to be posted online. Posting "I am so sorry you had a problem with your X. Please reach out to us at xxx@xxx.com and we will do our best to resolve this issue." would be enough to let me know they at least tried,

Ask questions: like how their Christmas shopping is going, Turkey or Ham for Holiday dinner, etc. Show some behind the scenes of you getting your business ready for Christmas and a few home preparations. The more they see you as a person, the more likely they are to buy from you or recommend you to their friends. Above all be genuine. Educate them about the benefits of your services. Ie. a house cleaning business can show before and afters (like the auto shop who mentioned this below). Entertain them. Memes can be used on business pages, so can jokes and cartoons. Use ones appropriate to your business to keep it on brand.

I have to agree that it is not always about the price. I am in the process of changing one of my providers due to lack of service at the old one. I want it taken care of promptly and the value of that level of service is worth it to me.

I also suggest that if you want a lot more bang for your buck, you invest in some foundational SEO for your website. This, unfortunately, does take time to yield results, but overall its a smart investment. Even a huge ad budget will not end in good returns without a properly optimized landing page. Use social media platforms. Find out where the majority of your ideal customers are and be there. Facebook? Instagram? Pinterest? Twitter? LinkedIn? You don't need them all, just the right ones. This you can do in house, but I would suggest scheduling posts if you are short on time - or hiring an affordable social media manager to do it for you (looks around innocently).

It's been mentioned here: address your customer. They don't care about you or your business! They care about how you are going to help them solve whatever pain point they need solving. Speak to them! Solve their problem, then tell them how to contact you to get it done. (more) It's been mentioned here: address your customer. They don't care about you or your business! (more) Since most of my usual answers are already posted on this thread, I am going to go with this: Business owners using Social Media and other online/digital avenues of marketing should consider the following: The time you have: If you have time to devote to multiple social media accounts and a website and, and, and - that is great. However, most of us do not. So pick your channels carefully, based on where your ideal customers are. Or be prepared to hire out some, if not all, of your digital marketing to keep up. Know your customers: In order to make the best use of your limited time and/or marketing budget, you want to be where your customers are spending their time. If that happens to be Pinterest, then be there. There is no point shouting into a crowd of Jazz fans about your New Age music, just saying. Be consistent: Once you have picked where you are posting, don't set it up and then ignore it! Post regularly, whether it's a few times a week or once a month, just pick a schedule and stick to it. There is nothing like opening a store and then never opening the door to let people know what you offer. Also, be consistent with your branding across platforms. Pick the same/similar user names on each of them so clients can find you easily. Ensure your images, banners and logos are following your branding to make you easily identifiable. Have a website. It's your home online. The one part of your digital marketing you have the most control over. If you build everything on social media sites and, heaven forbid, they fold, or they decide they don't want you on their platform any longer, you lose everything. That being said, do not wait for your website to be built to start your social media presence. After all, you need some time to build traction for your SEO, and an audience to announce the launch of your shiny new website to one it is done! Use Keywords in your posts. SEO is uber-important in getting seen online. Give it all the help you can by incorporating the keywords you want to be found for into your social media posts and write blogs on your website for each and every one of them. Not sure what keywords to use? Think of a brand new potential client looking for your services. They do not know you exist. What do you think they would type into Google to find a business like yours? Use those. And when you can afford it, hire an SEO specialist to help you expand that list. Hope this helps someone.
