Sensible Office Services (SOS) is a Virtual Assistant Business.
SOS offers administrative support to clients, such as:
Customer Service, Communication Management, Data Entry, Word Processing, Research, Assistance with AP/AR / invoicing, Purchasing, Sales Support, etc.
SOS clients have the time to focus on what they do best - and SOS takes care of the rest.
How We Got Started
Originally when I started I thought the concept of a Virtual Assistant was revolutionary. While researching for my business plan, i discovered there were at that time 1.5 million Canadian's doing what I wanted to do... this made me realize my thoughts were not so revolutionary, but I was on to something.
I started out supporting local businesses and then word or mouth spread and I have acquired clients from all over Canada. I love what I do - I get to help people manage their businesses successfully and from each client I have acquired I have gained skills and knowledge. I can't wait to see what I will learn next...

I prefer lunch time meetings. You step away from your desk and have lunch. Mid day networking leaves time in the morning to work and has stated below..."put out fires when needed", plenty of time to go back to the office to finish up tasks or take on something new and it leaves the evenings...

My industry has evolved due to the internet. I am a Virtual Assistant offering Executive Assistant Services, which allows Consultants or Business Operators the ability to leverage their time in more positive ways (more time for sales, more time to create, more free time, etc..). I have had clients from across Canada, some of which I have only spoken to a handful of times). I have a large client from Toronto and everything we do is over email and the occasional call. The internet has permitted me the ability to open my market and I am not restricted to only clients I can find in my neighborhood.

I’m a small business, for years, I used global payments. I was offered great rates for processing, but always ended up paying more than agreeded to. I’d call and complain - my fees would be adjusted for a month or two... then another fee would be adjusted and my rates would increase. I was...

I’m a small business, for years, I used global payments. I was offered great rates for processing, but always ended up paying more than agreeded to. I’d call and complain - my fees would be adjusted for a month or two... then another fee would be adjusted and my rates would increase. I was finally able to close the account...but only after I had been paying close to 7% to process cards.... I was told I would be paid back for the overages, that was 4 months ago. I doubt it will happen and I am done fighting.
I switched just to PayPal for processing, which is higher per transaction, but still lower than what I as paying an I now know how much I will be charged now Per transaction and if I don’t process anything I’m not charged. For a small business like mine, I’d never sign into another contract for payment processing.
All I can say is do your research and READ all the fine print. That’s where they get you.
I would say 99% of my business has been through word of mouth. I feel that when you are passionate and engaged with what you do your work will resonate with your everyday life. Referrals and word of mouth advertising comes from all aspects of what you do and how you present yourself, at all...

Referrals and word of mouth advertising comes from all aspects of what you do and how you present yourself, at all times. I had a great business coach who indicated you never know where your next client may be so even if you are running out to the corner store (put a clean shirt on and look respectable). Business can be found anywhere!
