About Us

Greetings! Thank you for stopping in. I am an Avon Independent Rep with a growing business. I specialize in skin care, makeup, every day needs, giftware, clothing, shoes, and so much more.

How We Got Started

As a disabled person, I needed to find a way to support myself and keep busy. I discovered Avon in the fall of 2011 and haven't looked back. I pride myself in highly valued customer service, answering questions and meeting the needs of my clients. I also do editing for all types of writing at reasonable rates. One of my passions is baking and decorating cakes. I do any and all of these things to create beauty and be helpful to people. I am very personable, which helps me in my business and dealing with the public in general. I would be very pleased to help you with any of these needs. My personal aspiration is to put a smile on the face of everyone I meet, and in some small way make their day better. Thank you so much for your interest.

(more) Dear Outted and Overwhelmed, my heart hurts when I hear about instances like this.  Not being limited to a co-worker that wants to use sexual orientation as a means to feed the gossip wagon, but I too, have been in a situation because a co-worker found out something about my past and twisted and manipulated it to try and get me fired from my position.  As I was management, and discussed this with my boss, to try and make this settle and not lose my job/ I found that co-workers can go behind your back and start horrendous issues in an otherwise comfortable and happy life.  There are those people out there.  In an optimal world, there would be no back stabbing, lying or manipulating people in our work places.  However, in reality they are there, and very active too.  You can't let this go and hope it magically disappears.  Unfortunately it won't.  This could cost your job, cause you to have many other issues both internally and externally and is just plain not fair.  With my issue, I ended up contacting a lawyer, getting a cease and desist order for each of the ones that had started the problem, and had them served; (indicating that if they did not cease and desist with the gossip and trying to get me fired, then there would be legal action toward them for their libleous actions).  If I had let this go, and the gossip wagon had gone on and on, every place I would have applied may have got wind of this (even though it was not true) and it would have affected my ability to provide a living for my family.  Now with the laws in place, making libleous statements is against the law.  Nobody can make comments or remarks that may cost you your job or your ability to procure a living.  You have done nothing wrong.  You trusted someone with something sacred, and they took advantage of that.  Unfortunately there is no law against being a gossip or a snake.  However there is a law against using that information to ruin your reputation.  Your HR department and your boss can intervene on your behalf and put a stop to this.  If they are unsuccessful, there are other steps you can take.  Keep your chin up, walk tall and don't let this affect your ability to do your job. :)

The tag line was developed from Avon reps going literally door to door to see their customers.  I decided instead of being put off by those comments, to use them to my advantage.  If a customer uses that tag line, then they recognize Avon; from there is an open invitation to discuss my company and start the foundation for a relationship with them.  I send "Ding Dong, Avon calling" in the subject line of my emails when contacting a new client.  Once I started using that as an ice breaker, I had far more positive results with my clients and their responses.  I still hand out paper brochures because I recognize that most of the seniors I deal with grew up in an era when the arrival of a catalogue was a big event. Everyone in the family looked at a catalogue!  So many companies have stopped printing actual paper catalogues.  Lots of my seniors are not computer friendly and do not have the satisfaction they enjoyed from flipping real pages back and forth like they did growing up.  Yes, I pay for my advertising, but to me, even if someone doesn't order much from me on a regular basis, if they are in that age group, and they enjoy my brochures, I am more than willing to provide them with that joy!  The person I leave the brochure for may not order anything, however, they people around them, (homecare, care givers, cleaning people, helpers) usually look at the brochures and I have gotten customers in that roundabout way.  Sometimes you have to think outside the box with advertising.  Neither is the best way for everyone.  Going completely paperless leaves a huge demographic out of the loop.

(more) What an amazing question! I started my business after I became disabled and could not work any regular job.  As I had issues with my health that would not allow sitting, walking, carrying things, stairs, and other things, I had to find a job I could do on my own terms.  I searched for and researched many home based businesses only to find that the start up and maintenance costs were far too high to be realistically achievable for me.  When I found Avon, I discovered that the start up fee, when it wasn't free to join, was only $10.  I did not have to place huge orders in order to maintain my status as an active representative.  I could place an order as small as $30 every two weeks and be a fully active rep.  With having my own business, I would still be able to have contact with many people, find out about new products, be helpful to clients, get out of the house and feel I was doing something useful and helpful.  Avon has been the answer to my dreams!  Not only can I help others with their beauty and skin care needs, but gifts, housewares, fashion, clothing and footwear, and more!  I absolutely love the contact with people, the way I can feel helpful, and work with a purpose. It has been a perfect fit for the last 10 years!  Now with the addition of having an e-store, people can shop with me from anywhere in Canada and have their order shipped directly to their door!  I would suggest this for anyone that can't work a regular job, doesn't have time to work a regular job, or doesn't want to work for someone else!  If anyone reading my answer wants to check out what this company has to offer, all the information can be found at my e-store, www.avon.ca/boutique/tmichaud0...

Find those in your area that have been to vendor shows and such and connect with them. Most people that have small or home based businesses are eager to help others build their businesses. That has been a great help in building my business. (more) Find those in your area that have been to vendor shows and such and connect with them. I have fun with prospective clients by having something for the kids (a candy, sticker or a temporary tattoo), handing out samples of product AND always a brochure. I had a display with lipstick samples, a mirror and a box of tissues. On the table below the mirror I had a sign that asked the question: Ready for a new look for summer? Start with a new lipstick shade! I had more traffic at my table for a small investment in lipstick samples than many of the other booths at the show. During the summer when doing outdoor vendor shows, I also offer free manicures with a color and have a nail technician come in and do people's nails. I don't do them personally as I am busy with prospective customers and sales. I also offer at home "spa parties" for those that want to learn about foot care, relaxation and comfort on a budget. The simplest thing you can do is put your phone down and look up. Nothing makes people walk away faster than feeling like they are not important.
