I am often torn as to which is more important; the rich textures or the gorgeous gems, as both play an important role in how and what I create. Inspired by textures found in nature, McLaughlin utilizes various techniques to capture those textural patterns. Studio space is shared with her husband Robert, a lapidary artist offering unique cut cabochon gem stones for sale.
Barbara McLaughlin is a self-taught metalsmith with a thirst for knowledge. Armed with her MBA, books became her friend. Experimentation in the studio was substituted for formal training, allowing her to explore techniques freely.

Coming Soon, will be a Learning Center where students can take a project class, details workshop or learn from the beginning the art of metalsmithing. Classes will be available for any anyone over the age of 18.

After 15 plus years in the corporate world I found myself without a job in a new state looking for what was next. My husband a Master clockmaker, needed the books done and I was bored. I began an apprenticeship learning how to repair clocks. After 7 years I loved working with metal, clocks paid the bills, but I wanted to make jewelry. Here I am, hope you will stop by and check me out. Undergoing some renovations for a soon to come learning center, but we are still open.
