Quality of life is a standard of health, comfort, and happiness for which we all strive. The Community Foundation of Monroe County, Pennsylvania (CFMCPA) serves our community by creating a pooling of money to be used for transformative grantmaking to improve the quality of life on Monroe County residents. Donors can help us to enhance quality of life for all who live in Monroe County with their intentional giving. As we are established in 2022, founding contributions of any size are needed and appreciated in establishing the CFMCPA now and forever.
The CFMCPA will make strategic grants, scholarships and investments that focus on positive community impacts and solutions to challenges our citizens face, now and in the future. We will invest and distribute money from funds, established by individual donors, in an efficient and cohesive manner. This collaboration offers a unique benefit to the community. We help carry out donors’ philanthropic goals in accordance with their wishes, offering them a unique opportunity to make a difference.
We had a dream… Over a decade ago the idea of a CFMCPA was born to a small group of influential and forward-thinking local local citizens. It took many years, as dreams often do, to come to fruition. In 2021 the Northeastern Pennsylvania Nonprofit & Community Assistance Center (NCAC), an affiliate of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance, joined the effort and progress was made. NCAC leveraged $60,000 in funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission and with support of the PA Department of Community & Economic Development, helped recruit local leaders to develop a founders committee. NCAC utilized $60,000 as a cash match to secure the funding to develop a board of directors, articles of incorporation, bylaws, logo, mission/vision, strategic plan, website, marketing materials, and initial funding for a part-time Executive Director. The CFMC is affiliated with the nationally-certified Scranton Area Foundation for back office administration and investment services while we grow.
