Ortho-Bionomy's primary benefit lies in helping people break the cycle of pain, stress, and structural dysfunction through non-invasive and quick acting techniques. Re-education includes posture and gait training as part of the client's self-care program. More functional muscular patterns are strengthened with gentle isometric/isotonic techniques and awareness based postural exercises.

Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, effective approach that uses comfortable positioning and relaxing movements to unlock tension, relieve pain, promote structural balance, restore well-being, and increase personal awareness.

How We Got Started

I began studying Ortho-Bionomy with a British osteopath in 1978 to assist myself after a motorcycle accident that left me DOA with 3 fractured vertebrae, 6 broken ribs, punctured lung, and a lacerated liver. The results seemed almost magical in its effectiveness and led me to write the book, Ortho-Bionomy A Path to Self Care which has received excellent reviews on Amazon for offering simple Self Care Options for Pain Relief. I offer personal sessions and teach courses throughout the United States and Australia and New Zealand.

(more) The constant news can cause anxiety, worry, rev the adrenals and exhaust the nervous system.  Once we are clear about what we need to do:, practice physical distancing, cough into our elbows or a tissue and immediately discard, and wash hands, we can reframe this inside time as an opportunity to slow down, rest and reconnect with yourself.  I believe in self care.  Listen to your body. Allow yourself to rest down and listen in. Yawn—- it helps to reset the  nervous system. Move toward comfort.  What are your preferences. Give into those preferences. Trust yourself. You  may feel like sleeping more.  Sleep. The adrenals nay need it to recover. You may find that sleeping, resting down and moving slowly allows you to find your own natural cat like stretches. Sense the movement initiating from within as you give into that delicious stretch. Perhaps you are moved to dance —- another way to access immediate joy. Turn on music and let your body move. Immerse yourself in the music and the fluid sense of the body moving.   Or perhaps you have a project that has been waiting til you had uninterrupted time. Seize the moment. Immerse yourself in doing something that brings you joy, time will disappear. This sense of timelessness can also be found in meditation and is deeply nourishing.   My recommendations for reducing stress levels:: Sleep, Stretch, Dance, Meditate, Focus in on a project.  Choose what suits you best and Drop in to the enjoyment of it.

I would recommend offering your space for other classes or lecture /demonstrations perhaps aromatherapy or a Self Care class. That way you can pick up folks who come for something else and fiscover that there is meditation on offer as well. (more) As the medical system gets more and more computerized, doctors are often expected to check off more boxes for billing insurance instead of taking the time to listen to their patients.  Those alternative health practitioners offering complementary therapeutic services who actually listen to their clients and assist them in their own natural healing capacity definitely have something more personable and valuable to offer.
