What writers are your "comfort foods?"
Answered by:
Non-fiction: Gaining a deeper understanding of reality, anything by Alasdair MacIntrye, but particularly "After Virtue". For motivation, "The Success Principles" by Jack Canfield. Currently reading "Who Wrote the Bible?" by Richard Elliott Friedman, "The Epic of Gilgamesh", Translated by Andrew George, Penguin Classics, and "The Gilgamesh Epic and Old Testament paralles" by Alexander Heidel.
Fiction: For the share beauty and elegance of the art of writing at its very best, the classic "Uncle Tom’s Cabin", by Harriet Beecher Stowe.

From "Gilgamesh," which I read many years ago, I still have the image of "smoke, (from burnt offerings) rising to the gods like flies."
