About Us

Jack Hamblin Auctions is a Full Service Auctioneer specializing in Estate Settlements, Fine Antiques, Quality Collectibles and Real Estate at Auction. We make house calls daily in the Tri-State area, securing many unusual and market-sensitive pieces accepted on CONSIGNMENT, which are added to our (primarily) Estate auctions. JHA auctions are cataloged for internet bidding via Hi-Bid and other platforms. We offer sellers lowest consignment rates for quality antiques & collectibles, with fast cash payments - and always, personal attention to every detail. All consignors know they are receiving world-wide exposure through our extensive advertising network. OUR 44th YEAR IN THE AUCTION "BID"-NESS.

How We Got Started

I once served as a volunteer auctioneer for a charity benefit. After the auction, an elderly antique dealer said how much she enjoyed the auction and asked "When is your next one?" I told her I was just a volunteer - a "one hit wonder", and that there wouldn't be any more! She insisted I meet her husband, a veteran PA auctioneer, who explained all the licensing details, and the rest is history.

Your voluntary lavishing of maid services on this lout have gotten you behind the eight ball rent-wise, and caused you much anguish. About your only recourse to collect back rent is to take him to small claims court ( in PA it would be a District Justice); landlord-tenant problems are not usually a police matter unless there is criminal activity involved. The old saying about a phony lover sort of applies here ("Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?") The guy's got a perfect setup - free maid service and no compelling reason to pay his rent. He needs some prompt and serious legal encouragement to a) get current on his rent and b) read the eviction notice! Also a Landlord

He had just finished the steeple, when a violent thunder storm blew in and completely washed away his diluted paint job -  and all of his hard work.  As he stood staring, dejectedly, at his wasted efforts, a deep voice boomed down from the darkened clouds: "REPAINT AND THIN NO MORE'"...

After volunteering to do a charity auction, I was amazed when an audience member (bidder) came up and asked how she'd managed never to attend one of my "previous" auctions. I replied that there were no PREVIOUS auctions, nor would there be any FUTURE auctions...I was just helping that organization raise some funds as a volunteer that day. She talked me into visiting with her Husband - a retired auctioneer - and he convinced me that becoming an auctioneer was "in the stars" for me. That was almost 40 years ago, and I've enjoyed immensely my contribution to helping folks settle estates, liquidate collections of valuables, and sell Personal Property and Real Estate at auction ever since!

Promptly returning calls or other contacts, making appointments that complement their schedule - even if "after hours", providing certain services free of charge...these are all day to day benefits that keep our company's name in the forefront of clients' minds. There's no harm in the occasional blockbuster deal, but every-day service in the small things wins customers!

Afterwards, she told me, tearfully, "Now I can buy the new storm windows and doors I need for my cottage". These kinds of events make all of the hard work worthwhile!

In addition, we maintain a business FaceBook page (John C. Hamblin Auctioneer), which has a built-in review/rating section. While reviews are nice -and beneficial - when posted by bona fide members of our audience, the anonymity of the internet allows for "sniping" by rival companies and other "hatchet men" who have no knowledge of our business. Therefore, on-line ratings/reviews are not 100% trustworthy. We also make letters and thank you notes from clients available for public inspection.
