BUSINESS SUMMARY:
I am a commercial mortgage loan broker in Salt Lake City, Utah. I work with borrowers, lenders and other brokers in placing commercial real estate loans with lenders and investors in Utah and in select areas across the U.S.
I often handle "hard to place" loans on special projects. I originate and place commercial real estate loans on general use properties, such as office buildings, industrial properties, retail stores and multi-unit housing projects, I also work on loans for other property types such as mixed-use properties, charter schools, convenience stores, restaurants, self-storage properties. I also work on construction and development loans.
I also work on findian and placing equity financing on projects.
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH:
Lynn Handy is a Certified Mortgage Banker, CMB. Through Somerset Industries, LLC and a related company, Somerset Funding, LLC, he provides management consulting and loan advisory services as well commercial mortgage loan originations, and loan brokering for his clients.
Lynn worked in the banking and commercial real estate financing industry for thirty five years. When the economy took its great downturn in 2009, Lynn left the banking industry and accepted a position with the Tax Division of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, being involved with property tax matters with their commercial, farm and church meetinghouse properties throughout the United States.
Lynn retired from the LDS Church Tax Division in May, 2014.
Prior banking experience for Lynn included Vice President for Bank of the West, originating commercial real estate construction on and term loans, as well as public finance loans. Lynn also worked for
Mountain America Credit Union in several positions and its affiliate Mountain America Business Lending, including Vice President of Commercial Real Estate loans. Lynn developed and expanded a successful commercial mortgage loan participation program with other credit unions all over the United States.
Lynn graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in business administration. He also holds a Utah real estate agents license. Lynn and his wife Sandra live in the Salt Lake City area.
