Being "genuinely"considerate of the "potential" clients needs and ability to even consider, or entertain what I have (that may or may not be of benefit to them .) This attitude of consideration and respect for the business owners time , allows my "care" call to often blossom into a relationship building event , as I really want to know who it is that I'm offering ,what may be extremely valuable to them at that moment , or in the future .
So next time you have some amateur start into a "pitch " before ascertaining if you're ok with it at that moment ... just give that person a helpful suggestion , to start actually "caring " about others first, before themselves and a potential sale . .
