"Shannon Stamper is a benchmark for what country music should be today ... classic country with a contemporary edge. She doesn't have to change to a 'modern country' sound yet, doesn't bury her sound in tradition. She marries them. And puts her hear and soul into it. Today's Country as it should be."

It's relatively easy to start a pod cast. Read up the online tutorials and create a plan that works for you. Simply pick your subject (it should be something you are well-versed on AND is appealing to an audience, the broader the better); hook up a microphone to your computer/laptop (you CAN do from your phone but audio quality isn't as good); and search online for instructions and a platform that are comfortable for you, you'll find plenty. The TOUGH part is REACHING and BUILDING your prospective audience. Without an advertising budget to invest in marketing, you must create your own audience yourself and this takes work and time. You need to do more than just post on social media. You'll need to repeatedly post your message to every social media platform you can, every news service and Internet connection you have. And, encourage your listeners to "tell a friend." While word of mouth won't build your audience rapidly, it IS still an effective way of spreading the word.

Think like the potential client. Target THEIR target audiences! Perhaps a bit oversimplified but, true, nonetheless. Too many podcasters target only the audience THEY want to reach but, if your aim is to attract sponsors/advertisers, you need the audience THEY want to reach. Those prospective sponsors become your 'target audience.' If you have the people they want to reach, the sale becomes something they want and need ... a much stronger selling position. Then you approach those potential sponsors that want your audience with something they want and you are more likely to close the deal.
It's not so much a matter of what advertising budgets are (while that IS important) as it is what the market rate is. Being in a market the size and reach of Las Vegas, that DOES sound a bit on the low side but, you need to know what others in the market charge, especially comparable to your...

Do your homework. Find and contact all the relative programs you would like to have invite you and send them a short introduction and statement of what you have to offer and why you are one who they should consider. References and recommendations are also helpful. A picture and short bio should also be included. Delivering in person, when possible, is always better than mail or email. It's harder to say "No" to someone face-to-face than it is in a letter. Remember, these people will decide in the first 30 seconds whether or not they will consider you so make a good impression immediately. Also, make contact with as man people as you can in your area(s) of interest. Andbe sure to stay in touch with them, develop a relationship. A lot of times "it's not what you know but WHO you know." A good contact can be worth a thousand proposals.

The best and most honest way to handle this is to emphasize the strengths of your business and why you feel you are worth the price you are asking. Remember, the prime concern of your prospect is "ROI" ... Return On Investment ... "What will I gain for my investment/expense?" Also, assure the prospect that, should they choose the cheaper offer, you will still be available should they be disappointed. Be extremely careful about 'explaining' "you get what you pay for." Some people will bristle at such an approach and you will lose them forever.
